In some cases, the first typed character doesn't display until after a delay, or until another key is hit #1098
$ rio --versionrioterm 0.2.14 # Arch Linux, Plasma, X11
It's not super clear to me what makes this happen or not happen, but often there is a long delay before the first typed character is displayed, unless another key (character or enter or cursor key) is hit, at which point the first character is displayed.
It doesn't seem to happen for the first command in a session, and it doesn't seem to happen directly after cat-ing a file.
