Tim, been enjoying this - thanks alot, its a winner for sure, but I have found a minor issue when trying to zoom marquee in or drag undo at high zoom levels, this on XP 32 and on my laptop and a desktop dualcore -
the problem is a 'lag' or hang whilst it figures out what to do, whilst it does that the cursor remains unchanged, user can then repeat the gesture in an attempt to get it going and that just make things worse and you can enter an undo cycle of death where you undo to a sample level of zoom and can't really escape. :(

part of that may (not sure) be down to certain quick drag up's being interpreted as a tiny zoom marquee, but thats just a new theory, my initial thought was that the hang/lag/delay led to a undo point loss or similar, maybe.

on a similar line one potential FR that may top things off would be a 'long' drag-up be zoom out to project (the final undo) for skipping a bunch of undos to get back to zoomed out mode.

a quick clik-drag up for undo step by step is really cool quick and useful, but a deliberate e.g 60 pixels drag up could undo zoom to project - but more importantly a solution to the lag would be most awesome!
thanks again
Ben

does it still happen if you take of the last zoom option to zoom out to the whole song?

could be that?

hey, nope as i'd tried that but your q prompted me to double check those settings and it seems that 'no-drag click zooms to item' is the culprit - yay ;) - with that unticked all is well and quick even at max zoom levels, however its a nice additional feature to my ideal trio of that, marquee zoom and drag-up to undo, so i hope having isolated the cause, the zoom wizards can sort it!

cheers

Ah ha, the "zoom to item" is the ticket. Fixed for next release.

thanks! all seems well -

i did a quick licecap of it in action - I may pop it on the reaper sws thread since i think its a pretty cool set of capabilities, all with a standard mouse, no keys etc.
a way to get back to project view in one click/gesture (my suggested long drag up for example ;) ) would just round it off, not a big deal though, awesome work. http://stash.reaper.fm/7099/zoom.gif

Hi guys - after some use with these rather wonderful tools - one FR: would it be possible to optionally have the edit/play cursor move to the start point of any zoom area? - but also perhaps be smart enough to undo along with any zoom undos? - u recently added edit cursor undos i recall, so bit of a combo could work.

oh my - i had a thought, optionally time select with the zoom marquee too.... {CAN O WORMS)

no its just i often quickly zoom in and expect to 'hear what i see' when i hit play and that doesn't happen with the cursor elsewhere!

cheers.

Hi guys, any chance of optional 'cursor jump to start of view' when zooming in?

its proving to be frustrating to quickly marquee zoom in (which is cool) but then have to mouse click to get the cursor in the area of interest.

I keep expecting playback to start at where i've landed, when its actually off somewhere else..

would be v.cool if could be done - know you're busy busy but thought i'd 'bump'.. cheers

...note I didn't include undoing of edit cur/time sel changes when undoing zooms since that is a bit of a can of worms. Feel free to add a new FR if that's really important to you!

Tim although this is excellent it may have caused a big bug in my reaper (32bit alpha 6 with win7 64bit).

I can no longer locate my edit cursor using either the ruler or the arrange page, it seems to have locked me out :) now nothing I change brings it back to normal.

not sure whether it's the drag ruler to zoom function or the move edit cursor to zoom though.
