What steps will reproduce the problem? I load up my fx chains into a few slots. saving to the default roaming location. doesnt matter if i load them into a track or not, but when i quit reaper, the reaper process doesn't end and i am forced to restart the pc. when i re-open reaper, the fx slots in the reasources window are empty. What is the expected output? What do you see instead? pure awesomeness...this feauture is so goood. i just set up a channel strip setup for a bcr2000 and this feature is a main one...being able to load fx chains with 1 click!!!

my guess is that the pre-loaded FXs (is that what they are doing as the take some time to initally get loaded in the slot, but when they are dropped into a track they appear so dam fast!) would release themselves on exiting the reaper.

What version of SWS extension are you using? (Extensions -> About SWS...)

Version 2.1.0 Build #1 What is your Reaper version number and CPU architecture (e.g. Reaper 3.75 x64)? v4.02 32bit What operating system are you running? (e.g. Windows XP/7, OSX 10.5.8 etc, 64bit?) Windows 7 64bit

Thanks guys, u rock :D

First thing I would try is Reaper v4.03. There's been some fixes in there that might address your issue.

Just updated to reaper 403pre8 and sws2.1.0.11, fired up reaper, load a fx chain via a slot, saved the track, closed reaper, and reaper is stuck in task manager...

After another restart, i did the same thing as above, but loaded the fx chain via the right click - add fx chain in the fx window, and reaper closed successfully.

Hey Mike (stop continues?), thanks for the detailed report!

Wow, weird! I can't reproduce here (xp 32 & win 7 x64).

From your description, it seems fx chains saved from the resource view are OK, applying them is OK but the bug is more like your FX chains slots can't be saved for some reasons, well saving them make REAPER hang...

I have some questions that could help me to debug that:

  • please, can you attach your S&M.ini file (it is in the default resource path, where REAPER.ini is too) ?
  • also what is your "default roaming location", I mean, can you copy/paste here the full path (in case it contains UNICODE char or something) ?
  • have you UAC enabled? are running an administrator account on you Win7?

^^sorry for the tyos..

also I forget: are all FX chains you add in the Resources view located in the default roaming location? If not, can you also post an example of the full path ?

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the quick replies!!!

I;m just using all the default locations:
C:\Users\mike\AppData\Roaming\REAPER

Im logged in with an admin account and i have UAC set to never notify...

All my fx chains are here:
C:\Users\mike\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\FXChains

I just use some sripts to back these important things up...

cheers,
mike

thanks Mike! basic path indeed & everything is dead simple in the S&M.ini file..
I have an idea but as I can't reproduce here I've uploaded a win 32 build for you here: https://code.google.com/p/sws-extension/downloads/detail?name=reaper_sws.dll does it fix the issue?
(fingers crossed)

note: in the meantime, you can probably kill the stuck reaper.exe process in the task manager rather than rebotting the PC..

i've tried everything to kill reaper, even cmd..sometimes after about 7min i can close, depending on the cause of the crash. is it just windows? i hear mac users dont get these problems all the time like me and my band mate do...we have to restart a lot...

Sorry, but this is not clear for me.. So, this test build correctly fixes your issue or not ?
If not, does the Event Viewer provides a crash message (the procedure is here: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=36653 , just in case...)
