Test Matrix rear 2.3

We will fill up this page with tests we have done (and we accept input and feedback from the ReaR community).

Arch x86

CentOS 7

openSUSE Leap

  • openSUSE Leap 42.2 with BACKUP=NETFS, BACKUP_URL=usb:///dev/disk/by-label/REAR-000, USB_SUFFIX="mybackup", and OUTPUT=USB similar as in http://relax-and-recover.org/documentation/getting-started on real x86_64 hardware with UEFI (without secure boot) and a single SATA 930 GiB harddisk and networking via DHCP where the system is on a single ext4 partition plus one ext4 partition for /home

SLES 12

SLES 11

SLES 10

  • SLES 10 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=ISO on a KVM/QEMU virtual x86_64 machine with BIOS and a single virtual 20 GiB harddisk and networking via DHCP where the system is on a single ext3 partition that is not mounted by ID in /etc/fstab but trsaditionally, cf. https://github.com/rear/rear/issues/1596#issuecomment-349338972

Arch ppc64/ppc64le (IBM POWER)

RHEL 6 (ppc64)

KVM on Power

  • RHEL 6.8 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a KVM/QEMU virtual ppc64le machine.

PowerVM

  • RHEL 6.8 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a PowerVM ppc64 LPAR with NPIV multipathed LUN (boot on SAN).

Migration (restore to a dissimilar HW)

  • RHEL 6.8 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE, from KVM (virtual disk) => PowerVM (SAN multipathed)

RHEL 7 (ppc64/ppc64le)

KVM on Power

  • RHEL 7.4 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=ISO on a KVM/QEMU virtual ppc64le machine.
  • RHEL 7.4 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a KVM/QEMU virtual ppc64le machine.
  • RHEL 7.4 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a KVM/QEMU virtual ppc64 machine.

  • RHEL 7.4 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a PowerVM ppc64le LPAR with NPIV multipathed LUN (boot on SAN).

  • SLES11 SP4 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a PowerVM ppc64 LPAR with NPIV multipathed LUN (boot on SAN).
    Also compatible with SLES11 for Hana

  • SLES12 SP2 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE with the SLES 12 default btrfs structure on a KVM/QEMU virtual ppc64le machine.

PowerVM

  • SLES12 SP2 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE with the SLES 12 default btrfs structure on a PowerVM ppc64le LPAR with NPIV multipathed LUN.
  • SLES12 SP2 with BACKUP=TSM and OUTPUT=PXE with the SLES 12 default btrfs structure on a PowerVM ppc64le LPAR with NPIV multipathed LUN (boot on SAN).
    Also compatible with SLES12 for Hana

Migration (restore to a dissimilar HW)

  • SLES12 SP2 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE, from KVM (virtual disk) => PowerVM (SAN multipathed)

  • Ubuntu 16.04.3 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE on a PowerVM ppc64le LPAR with NPIV multipathed LUN (boot on SAN).

  • Ubuntu 16.04.3 with BACKUP=NETFS and OUTPUT=PXE, from KVM (virtual disk) => PowerVM (SAN multipathed)
