^ @alicenstar I made a wording edit on this last bug fix that would be worth your review before you merge
specifically, this said "a demoted channels semantic version" and I changed it to "the semantic version for a demoted release" (before it sounded like the channel was demoted, which I don't think is possible)

this bit was actually my fix - and the edit lgtm.
