Hello, our company network has a proxy server. We host some resources internally, which should not be accessed via the proxy server. And we need to access some resources externally via a proxy server.

In a normal UNIX-like environment there is an environment variable called no_proxy that contains a comma separated list of hosts that should not need to use the proxy variables.

It seems that request does not have a no_proxy configuration option to match it's proxy configuration.

I don't know if I can provide a patch for this feature but I can write a test for it, and I can help test code if someone would help me implement this feature.

We'd like this too - is the only way to achieve this to add a function to generate options per request ourselves and only specify the "proxy" option if we don't have a host we wish to ignore proxy for?

yes, please ignore my comment in #853, we should take this features as soon as someone writes an implementation that looks good.
