Why did we start reSIProcate

The original resip team was put together in mid-2002. The key goals for this new stack were to meet the following requirements:

  • 3261 compliance
  • easy to program with
  • efficient (> 1000 transactions per second)
  • relatively small footprint ( < 500kb )
  • excellent security implementation including TLS and S/MIME
  • Win32 and Linux/Unix support
  • usable by proxies, user agents and b2buas
  • object oriented interface
