JsHtml

JavaScript razor view engine. The razor syntax (also used in asp.net mvc) keeps your html clean and allows you to use javascript in your templates.

Check out the examples for more information.

If you want to run the tests, be sure to install the devDependencies first by using

npm install

Installation

npm install jshtml

Example

index.jshtml :

<html>
<head>
	<title>@locals.title</title>
</head>

<body>

<ul class="Task">
	@locals.taskList.forEach(function(task, index) {
		<li class="@(index % 2 ? "Odd" : "Even")">
			@tag('a', {href: '/task/' + task.id}, task.name)
		</li>
	});
</ul>

<ul class="Task">
	@for(var taskIndex = 0, taskCount = locals.taskList.length; taskIndex < taskCount; taskIndex ++){
		writePartial('task', {taskIndex: taskIndex, task: locals.taskList[taskIndex]});
	}
</ul>

</p>

</body>
</html>

task.jshtml :

  • @tag('a', {href: '/task/' + task.id}, task.name)
  • Note : partials work also with the 'forEach' method.

    Express

    Use it with express!

    Install express and jshtml:

    npm install express
    npm install jshtml

    Create a simple server (/server.js):

    var express = require('express');

    var port = parseInt(process.argv.pop());
    var app = express.createServer();
    app.configure(function() {
    	app.use(express.bodyParser());
    	app.use(app.router);
    });

    app.set('view engine', 'jshtml');
    app.get('/', function(req, res) {
    	res.render('index', {
    		title : 'Test!',
    		message : 'De groeten'
    	});
    });

    app.listen(port);

    Create a layout template (/views/layout.jshtml):

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>jshtml</title>
    </head>

    <body>
    @writeBody();
    </body>
    </html>

    Create an index template (/views/index.jshtml):

    <h1>@locals.title</h1>
    <p>
    @locals.message
    </p>

    Start your server:

    node server.js 8080

    Browse to:

    http://localhost:8080

    Result:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>jshtml</title>
    </head>

    <body>
    <h1>Test!</h1>
    <p>
    De groeten
    </p>

    </body>
    </html>
