risiOS 37.1.1 Release Notes

Hello risiOS users! We hope your new year is off to a great start. We have released a minor update with a few bug fixes for your operating system.

Changelog

• risiTweaks: Added an option to switch between light/default and dark styling within the risiTweaks tool. This option was already available in the Settings app, but we've added it to risiTweaks as well to make it easier to access. This was after watching a user in a YouTube video trying to change the gtk3 theme to enable dark mode instead of toggling on dark mode in GNOME Settings. We hope this small change can prevent some confusion.

• risiWelcome: We've added mediainfo as a dependency for Kdenlive in the video production script. This will ensure that Kdenlive has all the necessary components to run smoothly on your system.

• rTheme: rTheme has been updated to version 0.3. This update includes a fix for a bug involving GNOME Shell support, as well as backend changes to prepare rTheme for use on other distributions.

• risiOS ISO: This is the first ISO built using a new build system we are creating to make it easier to create Fedora based distributions. More info the come within the next 2 months...

We've also updated a number of packages as part of this release. As always, we recommend keeping your system up to date to ensure that you have the latest features and bug fixes.

risiOS 37.1 (20221212)

risiOS 37.1 is now available

risiOS 37.1 is now officially available. This update focuses on bug fixes and improvements to the operating system, and does not introduce any major new features.

Some of the key fixes and improvements in this release include:

OS Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue with copr not working properly
• Updated packages

risiTweaks Updates

In addition to these general improvements, risi-tweaks has received a number of updates, including:

• Fixed a bug that caused rThemes to break if the file name was ".yaml" or ".rtheme" instead of ".yml"
• Added a URL for downloading themes, along with a disclaimer that some themes may cause issues
• Removed risi-tweaks-next from experiments
• Added a kernel-fsync script to the "experiments" section (with more experiments to come)

risiWelcome Updates

risi-welcome has also been updated, with changes including:

• Added a link to download themes
• Fixed an issue with the rpmfusion script failing due to Celluloid
• Removing the Office Suite picker from the productivity script (due to OnlyOffice being preinstalled)
• Removing Microsoft Teams from the productivity script (the app is being retired in favor of the web app)

rTheme Improvements

Finally, rTheme has been updated to improve the way GNOME Shell updates for the selected theme, eliminating the need to restart GNOME in order to apply changes.

OnlyOffice

OnlyOffice is now preinstalled. OnlyOffice is a great office suite with an easy user interface, excellent Microsoft Office document compatibility, and everything else you need from an office suite.

Bug Fixes

• fixed Debug Mode enabled in risiWelcome (shows things you may not need such as NVIDIA drivers)
• Removed fsync-kernel (was breaking certain systems)
• Added NVIDIA suspend patch to NVIDIA installer (fixes random freezes when resuming from suspend on NVIDIA systems)
• Added support for legacy NVIDIA drivers
• Removed button borders in risi-tweaks's color selection menu
• risiTweaks and risiWelcome version scheme changed to the distro version

Happy 4th of July (for Americans), this ISO just has some bug fixes, if you are already running risiOS you can get these bug fixes by upgrading.

• Fixed risi-welcome showing NVIDIA on non-NVIDIA systems
• Harden Firefox option now only shown if Firefox is installed
• Fixed line wrap on risiTweaks
• Fixed line wrap on risiScript
• Fixed adwcolor breaking if directory ~/.config/gtk-4.0 didn't exist
• Multimedia script now sets Chromium Freeworld as default if Chromium was default before
• Multimedia script now converts Chromium webapps to Chromium Freeworld Webapps
• Removed OnlyOffice (Free up space on ISO, installable through Quick Setup)
• Removed GNOME Extensions App (Extensions already available through risiTweaks)
