I hardwired the following to be able to install rmagick, since I don't have Macports:

$ sudo ln -s /bin/mkdir /opt/local/bin/gmkdir $ sudo ln -s /usr/bin/install /opt/local/bin/ginstall

Because I've seen in lines 85 and 86 of ext/RMagick/Makefile:

MAKEDIRS = /opt/local/bin/gmkdir -p INSTALL = /opt/local/bin/ginstall -c

Shouldn't the Makefile test if /opt/local/bin/gmkdir and /opt/local/bin/ginstall exists?

Regards,

Tute.

Is this still a problem? If not, it would be good to close this, @mmaiza.

I run OS X Mavericks. I have installed and subsequently updated ImageMagick, rbenv, and ruby-build with Homebrew. They work fine together.

$ convert -version
Version: ImageMagick 6.8.9-1 Q16 x86_64 2014-05-12 http://www.imagemagick.org

$ ruby -v
ruby 2.1.1p76 (2014-02-24 revision 45161) [x86_64-darwin13.0]

$ bundle list | grep magick
  * mini_magick (3.6.0)
  * rmagick (2.13.2)

I've asked my colleagues if anyone has any problems installing rmagick. Nobody reported. We all use Homebrew.

So yes, I think the original problem from 2011 was eventually solved by some ungung hero and this issue is good to close.

@vassilevsky Any additional help with this repo is much appreciated. I'm not exactly signing on to maintain it, but I definitely want to help revive it.... which means getting others involved :)
