Line 10 of lib/theme-and-appearance.zsh is not enabling ls colors as it should.

  ls --color -d . &>/dev/null 2>&1 && alias ls='ls --color=tty' || alias ls='ls -G'

For the moment I've just commented out the final alias on the right hand side of the OR. This seems to resolve the issue for me.

I'm not sure if this is machine/user dependent. Can anyone else duplicate?

Not sure it's relevant for this issue, but I had to explicitly declare DISABLE_LS_COLORS="false" in my ~/.zshrc file.

I had some issues with that on NetBSD (#1531). On what platform are you running?

I also had to make the same modification as Grogs. OSX 10.8.4, iTerm2, zsh from macports (5.0.2)
