ar - create, modify, and extract from archives
What I got:-
ar: aliased to sudo $apt_pref remove
.deb files can be extracted using ar to get their contents - which I was trying to do and got very confused ....
Also as is not a good alias of aptitude -F "* %p -> %d \n(%v/%V)" --no-gui --disable-columns search, because as is the portable GNU assembler.
