I'm constantly running across the issue of my commands returning "Command not found". I have a feeling my profile is not set up correctly. zsh seems to run fine otherwise. I do not have a .profile or .zprofile; only .bash_profile. Is this the problem and how do I fix this?
For example: I've recently installed MacPorts and Wine. All the files are there and installed, but the commands for "port" and "wine" are not found. I'm able to get them to run by typing the full path though..

You should add them to your PATH, or symlink them to a directory, that is already in your PATH.

They should automatically be added though during install. Why would that not be happening?

I don't think that any software adds itself to the PATH automatically, their executables are just beeing installed in a common directory, like /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin which are probably in the PATH of most users.
