Repository navigation
Requires OBS Studio 32.0 or newer.
Fixes a crash when renaming folders, adds a Windows installer, and corrects the Windows install path that the 1.0.0 README got wrong.
Which file do I want?
| Download | For |
|---|---|
scene-anchor-1.0.1-windows-x64-Installer.exe |
Windows — start here. Installs to C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\ by default; point it at an OBS folder instead and it lays the files out the way that location needs. |
scene-anchor-1.0.1-windows-x64.zip |
Windows, placing the files yourself — portable OBS, or if you would rather not run an installer. |
scene-anchor-1.0.1-macos-universal.pkg |
macOS, Intel and Apple Silicon. Unsigned: right-click the .pkg and choose Open. |
scene-anchor-1.0.1-x86_64-linux-gnu.deb |
Ubuntu / Debian — sudo apt install ./scene-anchor-1.0.1-x86_64-linux-gnu.deb |
-dbgsym.ddeb, -source.tar.xz |
Debug symbols and source. Not needed for normal use. |
After installing, turn the dock on: View → Docks → SceneAnchor. It is hidden by default — OBS does not show new plugin docks automatically. If you cannot find it after installing, this is almost always why, not a failed load.
Fixed
Crash while building nested folders (reported on the OBS forum). Committing a folder rename tore down and rebuilt the whole item model from inside a Qt signal that was still using those items, so Qt walked freed memory as soon as control returned to it. Nesting folders hit it every time, because each new subfolder gets renamed right after it is created. Drag-and-drop and the right-click actions shared the defect; one change fixes all three.
Added
A Windows installer. Windows previously shipped only a zip, while macOS had a .pkg and Linux a .deb.
- Defaults to
C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\— the plugin directory an OBS update will not wipe. - Can install into an OBS folder instead (a portable copy, or
C:\Program Files\obs-studio). The two locations need different layouts; the installer picks the right one from the folder you choose. - Moving between the two removes the old copy, so OBS never loads the plugin twice.
- Not code-signed, so SmartScreen will say "Windows protected your PC" — click More info → Run anyway.
Corrected: the Windows install path in 1.0.0 was wrong
The 1.0.0 README told you to unpack into %APPDATA%\obs-studio\plugins. That path is never scanned on Windows — OBS reads plugins from C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\<name>\ and from its own program folder, and a copy under AppData\Roaming is silently ignored.
If you installed 1.0.0 by hand and the dock never appeared, that is why. Move the scene-anchor folder to C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins\, or just run the new installer. Both READMEs are fixed.
Reporting issues
Please open a GitHub issue or post in the OBS forum thread. Include your OBS version, your platform, and the log for that run (Help → Log Files → Upload Current Log File) — every line the plugin writes is prefixed [scene-anchor]. If a folder went missing, attach the exported scene collection: the tree lives inside that file, so it is the evidence.
