I like your strategy of opening a new issue in order to close dozen of others... this is cheating man! Although all the other issues are referring to the same problem, the problem itself isn't fixed (for more than 10 months already) and closing the issues reporting the problem is just stupid fuck cheating, just to say "hey look we have only 4 issues" FUCK YOU if you look at the closed issues there are hundreds of them and MOST OF THEM are closed but never fixed! with your stupid little excuses like "don't use our theme" or "post on the google group" well the google group is FULL of questions with 0 answers!!!!!!!!!

... worst project and worst attitude ever

the closed issues (all 3 of them, not dozens) were feature requests that will be taken care of when this issue is completed. there are only two known bugs and those two issues are still open. both of them contain fixes that can be easily implemented if that's the [non-standard] setup that you use.

stupid fuck cheating, just to say "hey look we have only 4 issues" FUCK YOU if you look at the closed issues there are hundreds of them and MOST OF THEM are closed but never fixed!

that's insane, bro.

every closed issue in this repo is either fixed or not an issue (such as a support request). github issues aren't for support as stated in the contributing guidelines - the google group is. many projects have rules like this.

it's also not guaranteed that you're going to have your question answered by posting in the google group. this is a free theme that no one profits from, and people such as @leoj3n and @foxaii have been extremely generous with giving people answers on the group without compensation.

the google group is FULL of questions with 0 answers!!!!!!!!!

looking at the google group, it looks like there's only about 60 threads out of 467 posts that don't have replies, i'd hardly consider that 'full'. a lot of the threads that come in aren't even suited for the google group because:

  1. they aren't related to roots specifically. people ask how to do things using bootstrap which can be answered by either looking at the bootstrap docs or by asking on the bootstrap google group. these people still usually get helped out.

  2. poster is unaware of how to implement basic wordpress theming techniques, such as using conditional statements. the google group isn't meant to help someone learn basic theming. these people also still usually get helped out.

there's plenty of people building sites based on roots (see google group thread and the roots gallery) without problems. roots probably just isn't the right theme for your needs.

i'll be deleting your comment and mine in the near future so that this issue can stay on topic.

"worst project and worst attitude ever" anonumus you are a complete KNOB JOCKEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben Word has developed this theme out of his own spare time, Ben don't listen to people like that mate.. I can certainly vouch for you and am always promoting you theme.

I have watched / used this theme since the very beginning and the transformation has been outstanding !!! The Roots Theme has not only helped me deploy / design projects 10x quicker but has also given me many SEO advantages that have improved my SERPS.. It's a pleasure to work with roots !!! Ben's support is second to none !! considering he is not getting paid i see no reason why anyone feels they have the right to complain about the future development of this theme. Barely ever do a few days go by when the theme is not updated / new features implemented.

Ben 99% of us using roots do appreciate your efforts !! I would love to be in a position to hire you to come work for me for my upcoming project "ExpertPixels.com" you are a very talented and kind heated individual.

Regards, Darren (Founder / Owner of Expert Pixels)

@leoj3n

$home_root is an interesting variable in /wp-includes/rewrite.php

Edit: Just used it in a commit to my "parent" branch.

That guy is definitely over the top, angry. But at the same time I can understand his frustrations. It is a free theme/framework and that's awesome. But this is a pretty big caveat to the framework, whether it's free or not. The permalinks issue simply is not resolved, and finding the solution seems like a major obstacle. It is a ton of awesome work on a great project - but at the end of the day, this is a pretty serious issue and it's hard to use it with any real seriousness.

retlehs: i have 3 sites with subdirectory installs and roots works flawless. I know there was problems before and I know there was a ugly fix somewhere down the line, but for the past 8-12 months it have been working flawless for me, thanks for all the great work you guys have put in.

I have learned so much from your code from your clean ups and all you guys have done, thanks to you guys I have almost moved from being a designer to a developer...
