When looking to various plugins there are different handling in regards to save settings. Some submit automatically when checking a box, others do nothing and some indicate "not saved yet" by changing the background and font-color of the save button to orange (f.e. Cor's keyboard_shortcuts). Roundcube's default is to do nothing.
Personally I don't like Roundcube's default because users frequently miss to hit the save button when they've changed settings.
Currently the best way seems to be Cor's background change or something that does not exist yet (save settings by an AJAX request and don't submit/unload the page at all).
Could we agree to a common method? It is not good that plugin developers implement there own preferences and to archieve an inconsistent GUI behaviour this way.
