Given that people who care about the time it takes to load files probably know how to use the time program, this may not be necessary.
It would be nice to record the time taken to load files, maybe even display it separately, and then you might not need the option (as it's just another stat). This would help with those of us seeking faster tests to see where the pain point was rspec, or the support files, or framework load time etc etc... has there been any activity around this in the past year?
I'd like to see this, too. Haven't gotten around to it yet, and based on #475 there are some implications for spork we'd have to figure out...but I'd still like to see it at some point.
I liked @dchelimsky's suggestion of exposing the start time variable, this would allow Spork et al to set the individual run time, it could also be used to tweak the start time for other uses, e.g. reset it after rspec is ready to measure rails boot time :P ...
