While the
data_color()function is useful, it comes with a set of limitations (e.g., applies to entire columns) and is very difficult to use without working examples at hand. With this PR, it's hoped thatdata_color()can become more powerful yet be much easier to use. This will involve a lot of reworking of the function signature but the goal here is to ensure that previous code withdata_color()still works (though deprecation warnings will appear).Fixes: #1119
