$ tar xf rubinius-0.12-20091006.tar
$ cd rubinius-0.12/
$ ./configure --update-prebuilt
$ ./configure --enable-llvm
$ rake

I've got the port
coreutils @7.5_0+with_default_names (active)
installed, so
$ which date
/opt/local/bin/date

The GNU date doesn't take the -r argument
