I cannot pass leading ENV variables or tailing exec options to Kernel.system. All attempted system calls return false.

system({'FOO' => 'bar'}, 'prog', '--args')
# => false

system('ls', '-l', {:chdir => '/'})
# => false

Nevermind, this is a 1.9 specific feature.
