What was the end-user or developer problem that led to this PR?
We tried to push a fix to source priority in bundler 2.2.10, but we broke a lot of things.
What is your fix for the problem, implemented in this PR?
I'm working on a fix for the raised issues, but I want do to it with less rush, so for now I'm reverting the PR to restore the previously working behaviour.
