I really do think that you're making the right choice.

I know I'm just a stranger but I'd like to show support anyway.

I love the FPiS book and think it'll stay one of the best books on scala and fp in general for many years to come. I truly appreciated the good work you and Chiusano did.

Still I was not attracted at all by the idea of a java version of the book, all the while being a fan of functional programming and a daily user of java for my job. I think the idea to transpose the scala book version was too far-fetched.

Approaching fp in java is a task which needs a totally different perspective. Scala has its shortcomings for a full functional approach which will only be exacerbated using the java language. Introducing lambdas didn't really change java approach to software design and programming, and for its own good reasons I'd say.

Good luck for the book writers

Sincerely
Ivano
