CHANGES
Renames
ECLI_VALUE conversion features have been renamed :
from 'to_*' to 'as_*' in order to be .NET friendly.
Example: ECLI_VALUE.to_integer becomes ECLI_VALUE.as_integer
ECLI_STATEMENT.results must be used instead of ECLI_STATEMENT.cursor
ECLI_STATEMENT.set_results must be used instead of ECLI_STATEMENT.set_cursor
Moving-GC-safety
Removed all $ operators.
.NET Friendly.
ECLI_VALUE
ECLI_VALUE does not provide access to 'item' anymore
New ECLI_GENERIC_VALUE[G] provides access to a generic `item'
Value semantics : ECLI_INTEGER inherit ECLI_GENERIC_VALUE[INTEGER]
Reference semantics : ECLI_VARCHAR inherit ECLI_GENERIC_VALUE[STRING]
For reference semantics, given an object of type ECLI_GENERIC_VALUE [R]
where R has reference semantics, it holds that `item' will always return
the *same* reference (aliasing); just like in FILE.last_string.
The content of `item' can change, but the reference remains the same.
isql is renamed 'clisql'
'clisql' is a new name; it's also a new applications. It really is a
command line utility for ODBC. It also can execute scripts.
In some way it mimics Oracle's SQL*Plus.
query_assistant
'query_assistant' has been completely reworked.
It now reads XML definition for 'access modules', tries statement execution
and generates classes for 'out-of-the-box' usage of wrapped queries.
Query_assistant is a sort of "precompiler" : applications that use the generated
classes bind parameters and results statically, no metadata querying is done.
Tutorial
Tutorial document takes into account the most recent changes.
Advanced usage is not mentioned in the tutorial.
