any ways to output colors, mostly with the t display I would assume?

Timetrap doesn't do colored output out of the box, but you could achieve this pretty easily by writing a custom formatter (https://github.com/samg/timetrap#custom-formatters). Feel free to send a pull request since others might be interested in color output too.
