8.x features, fixes and breaking changes

Here's a list of feature, fixes and breaking changes for version 8.x:

I'm working in the type hinting (#594) , there I'm introducing breaking changes i hope it doesn't take me that long.

I would wait for that type hints to be done before implementing anything else.

For the custom checker class we can use the abstract classes, add the respective configuration and update the checkers manager. @filippotoso are you up to do it?

I'm going to release 8.x as it is. If someone wants to work on #572 they are more than welcome.
