Quasiquotes already use originals to match some type trees:
scala> val tq"(..$args) => $res" = typecheckTyp(tq"(Int, Int) => Int") args: List[reflect.runtime.universe.Tree] = List(Int, Int) res: reflect.runtime.universe.Tree = Int scala> val tq"Int" = typecheckTyp(tq"Int") scala.MatchError: Int (of class scala.reflect.internal.Trees$TypeTree) ... 32 elided
But it's not done consistently.
