This works:

Run scala then at the prompt type "import java." and press tab: a list of possible completions appears.

Create a file i.scala that contains an import or e.v. "var x = 1" then run scala. Now, when at the prompt and after typing "import java." and pressing tab, nothing happens.

In my case this happened whenever the init file is non-empty, even if it contains only comments.

See the same behaviour on another machine that has Scala 2.11.5 (rest of the environment is the same)
