Unified WAD and mod menu

czdoom

Changes

  • Mods can now be anywhere (just need to be relative to corresponding wad files).
  • Single icon to launch both wads and mods (.doom files).
  • No longer requires non-standard retail wad names.
  • Embedded aliases.txt for fancy naming.
  • Chex Quest supported as IWAD (Chex 2 requires it, attached)

Usage

Unzip mods.zip to same folder as retail wads. For everything to work correctly, the following retail Doom wads are needed. These need to be in the same folder as the .doom files.

  • Ultimate Doom, named DOOM.WAD
  • Doom II, named DOOM2.WAD
  • Plutonia Experiment, named PLUTONIA.WAD (Used by Plutonia 2)

No Rest for the Living needs DOOM2.WAD and NERVE.WAD from the Doom 3 BFG edition, placed in the .mods folder.

Perdition's Gate needs pg-raw-x.wad and PGDEMO19.WAD placed in the .mods folder. This was a retail game, so the wads aren't included.

New Mod Pack by badcloud (Law56kers.tar)

badcloud on the RetroFW Discord server converted the massive collection of Doom wads from Law56kers Nxdoom Collection-over 220 mods! (pack download) to work with the CZDoom launcher.

To use the included aliases.txt (and get the fancy wad names in your file selector):

  • Hit Select on CZDoom
  • Choose Edit CZDoom
  • Go down to Aliases and hit A
  • Navigate to where you extracted Law56kers.tar
  • Select aliases.txt
  • Profit!
