I'm on Windows so I'm not sure how this affects MacOS or Linux, although I'm guessing it will be pretty similar...

I tried following the installation instructions for the Audacity plug-ins and it actually doesn't work with the latest version of Audacity (2.3.1 as of the writing of this), as a few things have changed including some terminology.

Here are the updates to reflect the latest version changes:

  • Chains are now referred to as Macros, this includes the folder name has changed in the user folder, and they now appear in the Tools → Macros menu.
  • Plug-ins now need to be white-listed before they appear in the Generate or Effect menu. After you drop them into the plug-ins folder for Audacity you need to go to Tools → Add/Remove Plug-ins menu, they will appear in a list marked as "New" and you need to then click on each of them or select all and choose "Enabled"
  • The equalization preset instructions should be more detailed: Once a track with audio content is selected, select Effect → Equalization on the Equalization dialog window that appears, to import presets, select Save/Manage Curves and then Import and locate the preset .xml files.

I'll update or add another issue if I run into anything else. Cheers.
