In October 2005, I sold weblogs.com to Verisign. In the interim, it has been sold to Lexis/Nexis. They've done an excellent job of preserving the site. It's really nice to see.

As part of the deal they continued to map three sub-domains of weblogs.com to specific sites like radio.weblogs.com, doc.weblogs.com and scoble.weblogs.com. Those links have continued to work for twelve years, but some time in the last few days, probably due to a technical change in the DNS for weblogs.com, the subdomains are no longer registered.

This has caused a fair amount of content to go offline. For example, here's an archive page of my blog from 2002. All the images were stored on radio.weblogs.com, and are now broken.

I'm not sure how to get in touch with the people who are now running weblogs.com, so hopefully this will find its way to them.

Here's a summary of the missing DNS records.

  1. radio.weblogs.com should be a CNAME pointing to radio-weblogs.com.

  2. doc.weblogs.com should be a CNAME pointing to v1.userland.com.

  3. scoble.weblogs.com should be a CNAME for scoble.scripting.com which will in turn redirect to http://radio-weblogs.com/0001011/.

Update: We heard back from Lexis/Nexis. Not good news.
