I have tried this extension and it works with the keys it created. But when I try with key pairs imported, it can encrypt but not able to decrypt the email I send to myself. The key pair I used is 1024bit. I can decrypt the message if saved to a file and use my private key with another software.

Another issue the encrypt should be grayed out if the recipient's public key is not available, right?

Also want to add: the decrypt button is always visible even the mail wasn't encrypted.

In the Options page, under my keys are you able to see your key listed at the top?

Can you send me your public key?

In regards to the buttons, they are designed to be present even if the current message is not using encryption. If attempting to encrypt to someone who you do not have a public key for it will throw an alert and not encrypt the message. This is by design, perhaps it will encourage getting others to adopt encryption?

Yes, I can see my private key. I can decrypt the emails using other tools. Will send you my key in the email.

Ah, ok I was able to replicate the issue with a keypair that I generated locally. I've since made some changes to the extension that should help resolve this. I've pushed version 12 of the extension to the Web Store and also to github. Can you try again once you've made sure that you are running the updated version?

Thanks,
Sean

Can you clarify what you mean by "I am NOT using the imported keys." I think you may have mistyped? I'm assuming that you are attempting to use the private key imported with the public key from above?

Also, is the mail you are trying to decrypt being sent from mymail-crypt for gmail, or some other client? I am tracking down another similar issue that has to do with receiving mail from other clients, and trying to determine if this is the same issue you are experiencing.

Thanks,
Sean

Ok, I have addressed some of the problems with receiving messages from other clients (compressed messages). I have pushed a new version (13) of Mymail-Crypt for Gmail. Can you get this updated version and let me know if this resolves your issue?

Thanks,
Sean

Tried again with version 13. I can decrypted the message sent from chrome but not the ones sent from other client such as mac. The error message is "Mymail-Crypt for Gmail was unable to decrypt this message".

I have v.20 and messages encrypted within Thunderbird are successfully decrypted within Chrome/Linux

Correction - decryption is working well. So far I haven't managed to encrypt a message and there is no indication of where the problem lies.

This should be fixed in version 26. Please re-open if you're still experiencing problems after you get the update.
