How does this play into Canonical's LTS support plans? Specifically, will it
work with kernel version 3.13, which will be used in both 12.04.5 and 14.04?

I see 12.04.0 and 12.04.1, and the 3.2 kernel they use, will still be supported
until April of 2017, but support for 12.04.2, 12.04.3, and 12.04.4 will be
phased out in favor of 12.04.5, which will use 14.04's HWE stack. When running
raring's 3.8 kernel, I see clearly that it will not be supported beyond August
7, 2014, which is fast approaching.

Hi petiepooo,

The new PF_RING packages should support more modern kernels than our previous
PF_RING packages, so users should be able to EITHER:

- update to 14.04 HWE

OR

- roll back to the 3.2 kernel

I'm actually testing the new PF_RING packages right now and hope to submit to
our testing group in the next few days. If you're not already on our
security-onion-testing mailing list, please join and help us test!

Thanks!
