  1. added some comments about why the git-log command:

// - no single quotes as windows system call treats them differently
// - 'user:' prefix allows us to quickly tell if the log is the wrong format
// and try a different format (eg cvs-exp)

  2. updated windows instructions

  3. note about --loop command

  4. Added --loop option and made the default behaviour not to loop the log

as on short projects this looks quite bad.

Seeklog changed extensively to use clear() instead of reloading
the underlying stream when we reach the end of the log.

  5. Fixed time going crazy when you reach the end of the

log as I was trying to handle looping the log in two
    different places in the code.

  6. Give hint about regenerating the log file if gource cannot figure out

how to read the log file.

Seperate message if it appears to be a directory.

  7. Use first-file ($<) special make variable to compile just a file

Otherwise all the dependencies are passed into the command of
    compiler.

Also, use proper variable for C++ compiler (CXX) and, make the
compiler command-line more strict regarding its output by using -o
    switch.

  8. Add simple dependency tracking by using GCC -MM/-MT features

Can be switched off by giving NODEPS=1 to make

  1. added getNextLine() method which stores the lastline

read so we can resume parsing where we left off if
we find we've seeked half way into a commit.
    acaudwell committed Sep 17, 2009
  2. check timestamp is not 0 to validate if we are actually

    parsing a commit or not.

  3. Support real old Gits

Git knows the pretty format %aN since quite some time, but some people
    do not want to upgrade...

  4. Revert "Changed the git-log command back for now."

The reason for the revert was that %aN was perceived as too new
a feature. But it was actually introduced in Git v1.5.6.4~8^2
which is now almost a year old. So I think it is safe to depend
    on it.

    This reverts commit 11c5a0d.

  1. Ignore some autoconf-generated files and temporary vi files

  2. Use git log's --pretty=format: option instead of parsing raw commits

This has the further advantage that the local encoding and the .mailmap
are respected for the author names.

    It is also much faster.

  4. Add the --git-branch <branch> command

It is often useful to be able to specify another branch than the current
one; let's not require switching branches.
