After upgrading to firefox23, we are seeing 'waiting for evaluate.js load failed'. 
This appear to happen after 15 seconds.  Problem did not exist with Firefox 22.

OS: Ubuntu 12.04
Selenium server versions:  2.32, 2.33, 2.34

We are having this problem also since Firefox automatically updated to version 23 today.
We have confirmed that the developers that didn't update firefox can run selenium fine.

For some reason reverting to previous firefox does not work any more (maybe some library
that got updated in the process?)

Correction: reverting to previous available firefox version in ubuntu makes selenium
work again.

To revert firefox version in Ubuntu 12.04:

1)Create file /etc/apt/preferences.d/firefox:

Package: firefox
Pin: version 11.0+build1-0ubuntu4
Pin-Priority: 9000

2) Update APT

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

3) Remove new firefox (23):
sudo apt-get remove firefox

4) Install old firefox:
sudo apt-get install firefox

The downgrade instructions in #3 didn't work for me (I'm on Ubuntu 13.04); I needed
to remove firefox, and then use synaptic to force install an older version (couldn't
figure out how to do it via the cli):

$ sudo apt-get remove firefox
$ sudo apt-get autoclean
$ sudo apt-get install synaptic

Then use synaptic to force install the older version of Firefox; see <http://www.howtogeek.com/117929/how-to-downgrade-packages-on-ubuntu/>

This was happening to me when i installed firefox 23. I was using selenium with rspec/capybara
in a rails test. i updated to the latest selenium rubygem, 2.34.0, and this fixed my
problem.

work in 2.4 for firefox 24 on ubuntu 12.04 but if you use spork or guard do not forget
to restart them (2 hours working to catch my on tail...)

What he said. A link to any documentation would be super.
I tried changing the pom to 2.35-SNAPSHOT, but nothing.
The hack of changing the contents of the 2.34 jar in the maven home (with the new content)
did the trick (just to assert that it solves the issue).

Anyone know if this issue is specific to executing javascript or does it occur with
other WebDriver commands? Since the error message itself is vague it helps to have
some context.

In my case, it did fail for executing some javascript code.

I saw this issue while calling execute_script in Firefox 23.0.1 using selenium 2.33
python bindings. I upgraded selenium to 2.35 and now it seems to be working.

No need to downgrade browser version. I too updated my selenium-java 2.33 jar to selenium-java
2.35 jar and it is working fine now.

On #26, upgrading Selenium might not be an option for organizations that are staying
on 2.33 for whatever reason (not yet ready to upgrade, as that may introduce other
issues), in which case downgrade would have to be the other option, or skip testing
Firefox.

This is still an issue on Windows 7. 

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 and tried FireFox 23 and 24. Both versions showed
the symptoms described in the original comment. When I downgraded to FireFox 22 selenium
worked just fine.

I see this error on Windows7 and Windows XP, Firefox 23.0.1 using selenium 2.35.0.

The code that causes the exception is

I had the same issue when running scripts through grid, but was able to solve it by
upgrading grid to 2.35. Ran fine after I had upgraded webdriver and grid to 2.35 Hope
this helps.

I'm using 2.35 on Windows 7 (Bootcamp on mac mini), FF24, and I'm still seeing this
issue. Running any simple JS causes this issue.

show your full stack trace. I had part of my selenium using 2.35 and the firefox part
using 2.33 and it was doing this. Forcing all of them to use 2.35 with maven dependencies
fix it for me.

I am using Windows 7 64-bit.
FireFox 23 and above with selenium jar 2.35 + .... I am facing same issue.

However, downgrading Firefox to 2.21 with selenium 2.35+ it works fine. Its also working
fine with IE and chrome
