What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install kaspersky antivirus
2. Download selenium grid or selenium rc
3. Watch kaspersky stop it from downloading because it includes: NetTool.Win32.ProxySwitcher.d

Kaspersky Labs version 8.0.1.23
Pattern File Version: 100811.151900.4126642 (Timestamp: 2010.08.11 15:19:00)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to be able to download it without getting a virus error. I do understand
that this is marked as riskware and not a virus by kaspersky, but Corporate IT does
not like it when we download anything that our anti-virus tools think are bad.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Tried to download Selenium RC 1.0.3 and Selenium Grid 1.0.6

I am running on Windows XP

Kaspersky Anti-Virus version 8.0.1.23

I don't know what can be done about this, but I would like to migrate to Selenium from
Quick Test Pro, but my management team will not entertain the switch if I cannot even
get the software downloaded because it may contain a virus.

Thank you very much for your response. Could you please provide more details so I can
forward it to my IT department? Otherwise I would not be able to use Selenium RC at
my company

Both these links show that it is not a virus

I agree that those sites list the files aas riskware, BUT that in itself will make it
so that I cannot use Selenium RC at the insurance company that I work for. I understand
the distinction between a virus and riskware, but many management teams I've worked
with in the past will equate the word risk with bad things. Unfortunatley for me it
doesn't look like I'll be able to use this product.

Are there any alternatives currently? Can I download the product without the offending
software and then provide an alternative piece of software?

Hi Jwmajors81. You can definitely download an older version of Selenium RC, which is
not being blocked by the Kaspersky.

It might have to do with the .bat file inside. I would remove the bat file, rezip and
see if it still throws a warning. If this stops the warning, then we can link to a
raw version of the bat file, and have people save it and rename it.

Almost all the anti-virus softwares complains about Selenium Server jar file because
it contains a Windows executable file file named as hudsuckr.exe.

I work in a trading company and the security is tight and we can't use it with this
sucker inside the jar file. Would you please deploy the jar without this exe file?

What on earth that exe file is doing in Selenium Server jar anyway?

Selenium should be added to exceptions in your antivirus software. Yes, it uses hudsuckr
and we can't easily get rid of it.
