  • Sequel Pro Version:1.1.2
  • macOS Version:MacOs Mojave 10.14.6
  • MySQL Version:5.7

Description
When trying to connect to a MySQL server with no password, an Access Denied error is thrown. However, this only happens when there are some connection (to different servers with passwords) saved as a Favourite. In such a case, when trying to setup a new connection, the window is pre loaded with connection credentials of the previous connection from Favourite connections. To enter a blank password the existing password has to be cleared and credentials must be changed.
When the same connection (with no password) is setup after removing the all Favourite connections, connection succeeds.
Additionally, the connection works perfectly fine from the command line using both mysql -uroot -h127.0.0.1 and mysql -uroot -h127.0.0.1 -p(followed by passing an empty password.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Set up a MySQL server with root user and a password 'mypass'.
  2. Set up connection to this server from SequelPro.
  3. Mark this connection as Favorite.
  4. Setup another server with root user and empty password.
  5. Set up connection to this server from SequelPro. The connection window is pre-filled with credentials of the Favorite connection, connection will fail.
  6. Delete the Favorite, connect again.

Expected Behaviour
The connection should be established with or without previous setups of Favorites as long as the credentials in the connection window are correct.
