It seems that the last PR trying to do this had issues with zoom: https://github.com/pcwalton/pathfinder/pull/148
I redid things, and am unable to reproduce the zoom error: zoom works fine for me. So, I am no longer sure if the issue still persists, but I am also not sure what I did (I doubt I did anything) to fix it.
Can you try to clone my fork and try out the master branch?
