On a side note, I am not very familiar with how GitHub issue tracking works, but usually isn't newer tickets dupe of older tickets and not the other way around?

We sometimes dupe the older one if the newer one has more information or more useful discussion, but otherwise, I think we try to preserve the original report. Mistakes can happen though.
