The terminal shows ERROR:script::dom::bindings::error: Error at :0:0 SecurityError: The operation is insecure. which suggests this is an issue that would be improved by cross-origin wrappers.

Rendering no longer appears to stall for the embedded version at https://jsfiddle.net/xkryswj3/embedded/result/. The error observed at https://jsfiddle.net/xkryswj3/ is now:

[2019-08-21T19:11:50Z ERROR script::dom::bindings::error] Error at https://jsfiddle.net/js/_dist-editor.js?update_06_08_2019_1:1:1124472 editor is not defined

Which suggests that this relies on contenteditable, sadly.
