To reproduce:

  • start Servo
  • type "reddit.com"
  • in the edit box, "reddit.com over 18" appears, with the "over 18" part highlighted
  • erase "over 18" by pressing backspace
  • press Enter
  • a search page opens, with "reddit.com over 18" as a query

for me makes the tech demo relatively unusable outside whatever is showcased on the main page

for me, on Windows, the last character I type doesn't appear until I type another character

This even makes reporting bugs near impossible, for #16446 I had to reopen the tech demo like 3 times to be able to access my demo site. (as long as pasting also doesn't work)

Some more info: For me the typing went fine until I came to .or in .org (with http or https), but from then on I had to hit like "g, space, backspace", then "slash, space, backspace", and type every single letter like spelling out Deadkeys on Linux. (This part might actually just be a duplicate of #12937)

The location bar and autocompletion are part of https://github.com/browserhtml/browserhtml/ rather than Servo itself. Could you re-file this over there instead?

@jdm I believe that nowhere on servo.org (or even elsewhere) that is mentioned. In fact I was not even aware that browserhtml existed.

This is no longer a Servo issue as Browser.html was removed.
