@alexchandel I believe the cargo in the issue is referring to a previous failed Rust package manager sharing the same name as the current one. |

So should the issue be reopened for the current one? |

We discussed this recently. We want to support cross-compiling (to Android), which Cargo does not support yet and might not for a while. We’re still looking into replacing Make; @metajack is experimenting with CMake. |

I think it would be incredibly sad if Servo didn't at least support Cargo as a second build option. I think a lot of faith will be lost in the official build system if Mozilla's biggest rust project isn't willing to use it. |

My understanding is that Cargo now supports all of the requirements of Servo (most recently by adding cross-compilation support). @alexcrichton is that incorrect? |

Now that cargo has started implementing cross-compilation support (rust-lang/cargo#167) and now that Servo is upgrading to a version of Rust compatible with current cargo, we should be able to cargo-ify Servo and its dependencies. We talked a tiny bit about this in today's meeting.
It's not precisely a Make replacement, but it can replace much of what we're currently doing with Make and hand-written scripts. |

Yes, cargo should be featureful enough to be able to build servo at this point. There's probably gonna be some hiccups along the way though, and feel free to open any issues! |

Rust + recursive Makefiles is pretty lame experience.
I prefer to use a Rust-based build system that doesn't yet exist. Would be good for the health of cargo.
