This will always return the normal image. I expect it to return the bigger image.

client.user('eddanger').profile_image_url_https(:bigger)

I can’t reproduce this issue. Please provide the following details so that I can debug it:

  • What version of Ruby are you using?
  • What version of the twitter gem are you using?
  • What URL is returned when you send profile_image_url_https to a Twitter::User?
  • What URL is returned when you send profile_image_url_https(:bigger) to a Twitter::User?
  • What is the size (in pixels) of the normal image?
  • What is the size (in pixels) of the bigger image?

Using twitter (4.8.0)

Using ruby (ruby 1.9.3p327 (2012-11-10 revision 37606) [x86_64-darwin12.2.1])

I'm using the client with the bearer_token (possibly related to this issue, possibly not) to make the auth'd request. So I first get the bearer_token

client = Twitter::Client.new(
 :consumer_key => Rails.configuration.twitter_consumer_key,
 :consumer_secret => Rails.configuration.twitter_consumer_secret
)
bearer_token = client.token

Then once I have the bearer_token

client = Twitter::Client.new(
  :consumer_key => Rails.configuration.twitter_consumer_key,
  :consumer_secret => Rails.configuration.twitter_consumer_secret,
  :bearer_token => Rails.configuration.twitter_bearer_token
)
client.user('eddanger').profile_image_url_https
# => "https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/67759670/DSCN2136_normal.JPG"
# size 48x48
client.user('eddanger').profile_image_url_https(:bigger)
# => "https://si0.twimg.com/profile_images/67759670/DSCN2136_normal.JPG"
# size 48x48
