ssh-chat hackathon (July 2016)

I want to do a remote and real-life hackathon (probably in Toronto, satellite meetups are welcome!) where I'll be reviewing and merging many new features and bugfixes!

Want to be involved? All are welcome, even if you're a beginner with Go. We'll all help each other. :)

I'm the director of devops at my company, and i can do quite a bit, i used to be a programmer.

I'm going to be working on fixing some panic/crash bugs in master, and I want to add email notifications. Also binary builds releases.

What would the timeframe be? That can make quite a difference in the weekday/weekend choice depending on your timezone.

Let's say starting around 1pm EST? Also changed the tentative date to Sat July 9th. I'll likely continue doing some work into June 10th and a bit onwards if people want to keep going remotely. :)

• I'm currently using https://github.com/mailgun/mailgun-go to receive email alerts for logins.
• I've had to hard edit to tcp4 to get it to listen on ipv4 address.
• When typing a line wider than terminal width, it skips a line. (not sure why)

Hey everyone, thanks for those of you who came online to hack with me. :D We got some stuff done:

• @prologic wrote keepalive code that I'm excited to merge soon (feedback pending), and some other good-spirited submissions.
• @mcroydon cheered us on from the sidelines.
• My buddy Ted hung out and learned Go next to me (I helped a bit!)
• I wrote a script to package up binary releases so that people can stop complaining about having to use Go to run ssh-chat.

This date snuck up on me this time around but I'd like to do this again soon. I'm going to keep hacking on stuff on and off until then. Will ping this thread for the next hackathon. ❤️
