Shush the deprecation warnings

Either the base deprecator got attached to the wrong thing or we missed somewhere that base classes get instantiated because the new release is a veritable fountain of warning messages.

The condition is just reversed. We're warning on good usage and not on legacy usage.

I'll probably gut a quick extra patch release, that makes the CLI absolutely obnoxious to use even if it works.
