Welcome to the sino.study wiki!
The app consists of a basic backend service and a frontend SPA. In order to reduce excess computation and reduce overall costs, as much as possible has to be precompiled before/when launching the backend service (e.g. the dictionary database). What cannot be precompiled, must be moved to the frontend SPA in order to distribute resource consumption. The computations that remain which can neither be precompiled, nor moved to the browser space are then left in the backend service; this includes Java-dependent things such as the CoreNLP-based grammar analysis.
The app makes use several internal libraries that will eventually be moved out into separate repositories after they have matured. The first one to will probably be sinostudy.pinyin.
Can match and convert between different kinds of Hanyu Pinyin.

Various functions that are too abstract or too generally useful to put in more specialised libraries, i.e. they really should be a part of Clojure core. The name "rim" is a play on "core".
The logo makes use of the middle dot from Chinese punctuation.
Chinese uses a middle dot to separate characters in non-Han personal names, such as Tibetan, Uyghur, etc. For example "Nur Bekri" ( نۇر بەكرى;), the name of a Chinese politician of Uyghur extraction is rendered as "努尔·白克力" . "Leonardo da Vinci" is often transcribed to Mandarin as: traditional Chinese: 李奧納多‧達‧文西; simplified Chinese: 列奥纳多‧达‧芬奇.
This is a fairly clever idea and makes for a nice logo and funny easter egg. When writing the name in a stylised way it should look like this: sino‧study.
The colour scheme resembles a Chinese stamp. Possible source of inspiration here.
