Version 5.0 doesn't play nice when doing a Vercel deploy

The errors are in red. I switched to version 4.0 and it builds.

Maybe try removing "type": "module" from package.json as suggested.

Also getting this error under tsnode with node v15.9.0, ts-node v9.1.1.

EDIT: for those who can't move from CommonJS in their tsconfig because of breaking to other tools, the source code for this repo is 10 lines and MIT licensed, so as a shim you can trivially copy it and attach credit.
