The upcoming Texas legislative session will have a number of epic showdowns of state vs. local law. For example: https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/2016/12/19/181069/a-potential-showdown-between-cities-and-the-state-over-equal-rights/
It would be interesting to organize all the information about home rule coming out of the session.
Possible project: scrape lege minutes and have google alerts for newspaper articles for the "home rule" or "local rule" bigrams and tweet the links.
Another project: twitterbot that responds to all "Texas" + "home rule" tweets.
