This privacy notice applies to SME Virtual Network operated websites and mobile apps, which include the domains smevirtual.com and smevirtual.org, among others. This includes, for example, discuss.smevirtual.com.
Things you should know
We may receive personal information from you based on your interaction with us on social media platforms; if you volunteer as a SME Virtual Network contributor; if you submit user feedback or a request to us or if you sign-up for an account, among other interactions not listed here.
Social Media: If you engage with our social media accounts, such as Twitter and Facebook, we may receive personal information about you. If you use these networks, their privacy policies apply, and you are encouraged to read them.
Contributors and Participants: Volunteering for the SME Virtual Network as a community contributor or as a participant in a SME Virtual Network virtual event or meeting may require the SME Virtual Network and others to communicate with you at the email address that you provide in connection to your contribution and to recognize your efforts. If you contribute to our discussion forums, Slack team or any of our open-source efforts, then your email address and possibly your name will be publicly available to all internet users.
User Feedback: You can provide feedback to us on our products and services by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org, through feedback links throughout smevirtual.com, or through channels such as discussion forums, bug trackers, Slack, a social media account, or through a groups like other SME Chapters or SME Student Chapters. Please minimize the personal information you choose to share on these forums because your comments may be accessible to the public.
Accounts: Some SME Virtual Network websites require account creation to submit developer content; or register for events. You may periodically receive emails in connection with your account.
Membership Campaigns: Some interactions with SME Virtual Network websites will invite you to express interest in recieving communications concerning SME membership or joining the SME as a member. In general, this will be opt-in. In some cases, we use third parties to manage these campaigns and handle any data that you choose to submit.
- Cookies may be used to assist with user sign-in and authentication so you can bypass entering your passwords on certain SME Virtual Network websites.
- IP addresses are used to customize communications by language and country.
- Device information such as country, language, operator and OEM, may be used to customize your experience on SME Virtual Network websites.
