This is a program that will download the top rated post on reddit.com/r/earthporn and set it to your desktop backround.

The program now works so that if you run it, it downloads the 5th post(I set it to that because while I was testing, posts 1-4 were not as pleasing to me) and sets it to your background.

Image Usage Rights

Each post on r/earthporn can be hosted in a variety of locations and have different usage rights. Below is a summary of the policies of common r/earthporn hosting locations and what I was ablt to find in terms of usage rights

Flickr: Scroll down Some authors may choose to disable downloading. These photos will not be linked directly to the file on reddit, and instead will link to the page the photo is hosted on. The ones that can be downloaded will most likely be posted directly to the subreddit instead of a link the page.

Imgur: Scroll down to "The Details" You can download any file that is made public on Imgur as long as it is used for personal, non commercial purposes. This is not commercial so we are good to go.

Others: The majority of the posts to r/earthporn are hosted on Flickr and Imgur. Those hosted elsewehere seem to not reach peek popularity enough for me to even find posts hosted elsewehere that will not download. If there is one that will not download, the loss of that one image will not affect the purpose of this project. If a user really wants that photo, they can download it themselves.
