  • create a psplash.img cpio archive
  • use "split initrd" mechanism to attach splash to the initrd on boot via uboot.env
  • add "splash", "quiet" and "vt.handoff=2" (needed for mir-kiosk) to default commandline
  • add info how to change the branding to README.md

NOTE: in case of testing this, please remove "dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d" from config.txt for the moment, else there will be no /dev/fb0 in the initrd (until the kernel ships the vc4 drm modules in the initrd (pending)).
